Burgos Group was the prime contractor providing assault zone support for Special Operations at Cannon AFB, NM. We provided a team of experienced combat and air traffic controllers who controlled Air Force Special Operations drop zones and landing zones training events. The team surveyed landing and drop zones, performed air traffic control duties and served as observers for movement of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) through uncontrolled airspace. The team supported complex, Wing-level mission support scheduling functions, marshaled aircraft, recovered cargo and supported accident/incident investigations. We provided support to major Special Operations Forces (SOF) training exercises at Cannon AFB and at numerous secondary range locations, as required.

As part of the requirement, we managed workforce and hours to meet demanding schedule in support of Special Operations Forces training missions. Our Project Manager responded to senior level customers up through GS-14 and O-6, met with the contracting officer’s representative on a weekly basis, prepared for and participated in weekly scheduling meetings, prepared briefings and plans as requested, investigated and reported on incidents and training accidents, developed monthly reports and highly detailed support metrics for squadron, wing and command level review and reporting. Burgos Group also performed the Quality, Safety and Security management function and managed one subcontractor/teaming partner who brought specialized operational skills to the team.

This program required considerable movement of special operations training equipment on and around a large military installation and operational ranges throughout the western U.S. We provided and maintained an operationally-ready fleet of contractor vehicles, multiple inventories of equipment and support kits. We were also responsible for identification and procurement of training and communications equipment and ordered, received, stored, transported, installed, repaired and disposed of equipment as requested. We maintained running inventories, conducted annual physical inventories of computers, monitors, radios, protective gear and survey equipment.

Our personnel were required to maintain unique certifications and currency of training and operational procedures on all staff. This contract was staffed with an on-site Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and Scheduler in the key positions and the team of 10 experienced combat and air traffic controllers with Secret clearances. Upon award, we successfully transitioned the team from a previous contractor within 10 working days. Throughout the contract, we skillfully managed personnel replacements with our established and proven approach to recruitment and retention. The CPARs issued for this contract consistently rated Burgos Group as Exceptional and Very Good.
