Medical Facility Floor Renovation

Customer: DHS/U.S. Coast Guard
Contract Award: $48,485

Contract Number: HSCG42-11-C-PFC044
POP: 15-Sep-2011 to 15-Dec-2011

Burgos Group was contracted to renovate flooring at the USCG Training Center at Cape May. We installed medical grade seamless vinyl flooring system on top of existing flooring in 20 dental exam rooms and three hygienist rooms. Installation included seamless transitions between new flooring and existing flooring in hallways. Additionally, we installed seamless vinyl flooring system on top of existing flooring in the Recruit Processing Room. This also included seamless transitions between new flooring and existing flooring in hallways. As prime, Burgos Group provided all supervision, materials, equipment, transportation, labor and other incidentals necessary to complete the work.

Medical-grade seamless flooring requires that the vinyl flooring wrap up the walls for 6 inches and that all seams are thermally welded for a seamless transition.

Additional challenges required us to work in an occupied facility, schedule closely with the customer to minimize disruption. This required a phased installation approach. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) also prevented challenges. The HIPAA Privacy Rule required us to carefully monitor our crews to ensure patient records were protected and not inadvertently accessed in the course of the work.
